Cleaner Communities Awards 2018

Galway County Council is happy to announce the launch of its Cleaner Communities Awards for 2018.

The Cleaner Communities Awards are a countywide competition aiming to make County Galway a cleaner and greener place to live, work and visit. The Awards recognise the efforts of residents, community groups and businesses in maintaining a litter-free and well-presented community and is geared towards fostering a sense of pride in our local community surroundings.

The categories for entry are:

  1. Best Planted Area

This category is open to all communities and groups who undertake works to brighten their area, for example, planting flowers, shrubs, native trees etc.

2. Best Kept Burial Ground

This category is open to all burial ground committees and other organisations who maintain their burial grounds to a high standard.  Works include grass maintenance, weed/litter control and general upkeep.

3. Sweep Your Street / Litter Clean Up

This category is open to all community groups, businesses and residents in a town, village area and aims to encourage participants to keep their street and/or area litter free.

4. Best Presented Public Recycling Area

This category is open to all communities who are interested in keeping their public recycling area, for example, bottle bank area, well maintained, clean and litter free.

Closing date for receipt of application forms including photographs is 4.00pm Friday, 22nd June 2018.

 Late applications will not be considered.

The Cleaner Communities Awards is an opportunity for all to enhance their local community and obtain formal recognition for all the hard work carried out during the year from Galway County Council. We encourage all communities to enter.
