Dan is a farmer and a member of the IFA. He is a Director on the Executive of Galway Rural Development and a Director of Ballinasloe Training for Employment (A Community Employment Project with 36 employees working with local voluntary, not for profit organisations). Dan is a former Chairperson of Ballinasloe Local Area forum and is an active fundraiser on behalf of the Ballinasloe Branch of the St. Vincent De Paul. He is a Director of Ballinasloe Area Community Development (an initiative to respond to unemployment in Ballinasloe now employing approx 200 people.
