Archaeology Radiocarbon Dates Scheme
The Royal Irish Academy (RIA), in partnership with Queen’s University Belfast (QUB), provides radiocarbon dating for up to twelve archaeological samples each year to support research in Ireland. Of these, at least two dates are reserved specifically for students, ensuring early‑career researchers have access to specialist scientific analysis. Applicants may submit up to five samples for consideration, though awards are not guaranteed for all samples requested.
Applications for the 2026 round of funding are now invited. Please make sure to read the application guidelines which can be found here carefully before submitting your application.
