Ballymoneen Solar Farm Community Benefit Fund

Ballymoneen Solar Farm Community Benefit Fund

M-CO, on behalf of Power Capital, is supporting the development of the Community Benefit Fund linked to the Ballymoneen Solar Farm project in County Galway.

This fund will provide financial support to community and voluntary groups, not-for-profit organisations and local initiatives, with the aim of delivering positive social, environmental and community benefits in the local area over the lifetime of the project.

The fund will support a broad range of projects, including those that:

  • Strengthen community facilities and services
  • Support local clubs, organisations and inclusion initiatives
  • Deliver environmental and biodiversity improvements
  • Promote sustainability, climate action and energy awareness

Area of Benefit

The fund is focused on a defined Area of Benefit, set at 3km from the solar farm and you can view the Area of Benefit map here.  Please note that applications will also be considered from groups located outside this area where they can demonstrate that they support or deliver services to communities within it.

Fund Committee – Expressions of Interest

Expressions of Interest are now open throughout March for individuals interested in joining the Fund Committee. The committee will play an important role in shaping the fund strategy, reviewing applications and making recommendations on grant awards. This is a voluntary role and we are particularly keen to hear from individuals with a strong understanding of local community needs and experience of community or voluntary activity.
