Galway County PPN is the best way your group or community can have a voice in shaping the future of Galway County.

PPN Membership is open to groups which

  • Are active and with a postal address in the Local Authority area. It is the PPNs’ responsibility to validate the identity of its Member Groups.
  • Operate on a not-for profit basis.
  • Are volunteer-led (organisations may have paid staff, but must be under voluntary control).
  • Are independent, and this can include local and regional branches of national organisations. Representatives 30 Public Participation Networks Handbook Section 3: Membership of the PPN
  • Have at least 3 members and are open to new members.
  • Have an appropriate governance structure e.g. set of rules / constitution / financial procedures.
  • Meet regularly. • Are in existence for at least six months.
  • Are non-party political.

Each member organisation must then choose to be part of one of the three electoral Colleges – Community and Voluntary; Social Inclusion; or Environmental.

What will Galway County PPN do with your information?

Groups joining Galway County PPN are providing us with their contact details in order to enable them to be fully consulted and included in the local democratic processes as well as in the national network of PPNs. 

Groups joining the PPN are entering an agreement that the details they supply may be shared with other members of the network, with the elected representatives of the PPN, with members of Galway County PPN’s secretariat, with the Environmental Pillar, with Galway County Council and with other bodies or persons who require access in order to facilitate the ongoing work of the PPN. 

When you join Galway County  PPN you are also agreeing to receive emails and newsletters from us. 

Galway County PPN will not supply the information provided to it to any person or organisation not engaged in PPN work or activities or in the community and voluntary sector in Galway.

In the future Galway County  PPN may display the names and locations of member groups on its website. Individuals or member groups may request to have their personal data supplied to them and/or removed from or updated on the register by giving 30 days’ notice to Galway County PPN.
