Structural Review of PPNs 2022

Out now!

The Department of Rural and Community Development has published and a report which reviews the current functioning of the PPNs in Ireland. This report is available on the Department’s website here.

An independent review of the Public Participation Network structures was commissioned by the Department in 2021, to fulfil the commitment made in the Programme for Government to “Carry out a comprehensive review of Public Participation Networks to ensure that they are fit for purpose for climate action and community development.”

A ‘root and branch’ review of PPN structures was conducted by an independent contractor, to consider the structures currently in place, identify any challenges, and make recommendations to strengthen and enhance Participation Networks.

The review will provide the basis on which the Department will work with PPN stakeholders to develop a roadmap for implementing any necessary changes to Participation Network structures.
